Random Silliness

Those kids.....

On Saturday, I was knocked down another few notches on my Motherhood totem pole. One kid was found having rolled himself off the chair (again) and chewing on the computer cord (plugged in with computer no longer attached, mind you). The other was found a short time later putting all of Daddy's coins into her pockets and playing with his watch. Nice safe activities.

Amelia, ever my wonderful source of entertainment, continues to crack me up with her silly sayings. She's still obsessed with her "Sweetheart" (her fingers, remember?). We went to Aunt Debbie and Uncle Rod's for Mother's Day on Sunday. She was playing outside with Stephanie and her daughter Amber. When they went to go from playing in the jumping toy to the swingset Steph went to put the girls' shoes on. She told them to go sit on the picnic table. Amber sat on the bench of the picnic table, Amelia sat right on the table. Stephanie laughed and told her, "Well, I meant the bench, but I did say table, so you were technically following instructions!" As she was putting Amelia's shoes on, Amelia asked, "What's that?" Steph told her it was the fire pit, and that when there is fire in it, it gets very hot. Amber started in about how the hot fire would burn you and it would "hurt really bad!" Amelia responded with, "Yeah, and it will hurt my Sweetheart!!!" We got a good laugh out of that.

When Amelia wants me to read her a book, she brings me the book, tells me to "Read Wolf Book" or whatever her name is for that particular book, and if I don't start reading quickly enough she says, "Talk it, Mommy! Talk it!"

We also like to read her "On the Night You Were Born" book, and there is a part in there where they ask the child to say their name out loud. I always ask her what her name is and to say it out loud. She says her name, then wants to know everyone else's name by saying, "What's this name? What's this name?"

Silly kids. Hopefully they will be good for us this weekend as we make the long journey back to Owensboro for Rob's graduation from college. Hard to believe that he is old enough to be graduating. Should be a fun, but short, weekend. Now back to packing. My favorite thing (yeah right).

  1. Dear Amelia Jean,
So sorry you caught the stomach bug. I bet you will recover faster than your daddy. Can not wait to see you and Sweetheart this time next month.
    Love you,
    Grandmommie
