Vacation Pics

We made it to Beverly Shores, IN on Saturday June 12 after a less than 4 hour drive. Quite a short trek compared to all our other trips to see Granddaddy and family. First order of business was birthday presents and celebration for Amelia's upcoming 3rd birthday. She was so excited and everyone loved the "Cookie Monsters" we brought for dessert.
Thomas being his normal cheery self during the birthday party. I think he thought he was going to get presents too. :)
Trying to clap I think.
Thomas loves his Uncle Rob. I think Uncle Rob likes him a little too.
Granddaddy, Aunt Courtney and Amelia went to the beach the next morning. Amelia got a crash course in building sand castles--Granddaddy would build it, Amelia would kick it over.
Then she learned to bury herself.
Early Father's Day celebration. Granddaddy was pretty impressed with his gifts.
One of Amelia's birthday presents was this lovely bubble mower. She LOVES it. She has spent hours playing with this.
Monday evening Aunt Courtney, Amelia and I walked down to the beach at 8:00 to see the sunset. It was pretty cloudy but still beautiful. I love the face she's making here.
Even though it was cloudy, we weren't disappointed.
Love this picture. I told her to say cheese but she kept looking away.
Getting ready for the zoo in our matching shirts. Mary got grief from all of us, including herself, all day about these shirts. I teased her before we left that with almost everyone in the polo shirts and khaki pants we were going to have people thinking we worked at the zoo. Lucky for us, the zoo workers wore blue shirts with their khaki pants. We also considered the fact that we looked like the Duggars or like we were on a group tour. It was too funny.
One of my personal favorites was the bald eagle exhibit. We found these two very cooperative beauties there.
At the otter exhibit there was this tunnel that went under the display. When the otters are cooperative, which they were not that day, the kids can see the otters play above their heads. This little guy was hanging out in there and when Amelia saw walked right up to him and said, "What's your name?" He didn't answer and hopped out of the tunnel.
Here's my sweetie waiting outside the Reptile House with his snake-phobic Mommy. When they came back out, I guess Amelia got very concerned that she didn't see her mommy around. She came running over to me, "Mommy, I see the animals! Come see them, Mommy!" "No thanks, Honey. Mommy doesn't want to see the snakes." It has been a very nice time so far. More pics to come later.
