Random Musings from This Week

Wow, it has been a crazy week so far and it's only Monday.  Saturday John and I got to take an adult's only trip to IKEA.  Yep, that's as exciting as we get.  It is normally a very fun day trip for us, however this one was a nightmare.  We had all kinds of problems and frustrations at the store and afterward.  We LOVE IKEA but have never been so happy to arrive home!

Between Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning, John developed a sinus infection and started to notice that his ears were getting plugged and sore.  We stayed home from church because he felt so bad and it's hard for me to take care of the two crazy kids by myself at church.  I spent the morning packing up the remaining items in Amelia's room while Thomas napped and John rested.  When it was Amelia's time for a nap, she FREAKED OUT.  We have highly underestimated how this upcoming move would affect her.  She has up to this point been very excited about the prospect of a new house.  Until she saw all of her things packed in boxes and bags.  Don't get me wrong, she's still very excited about moving.  She just doesn't understand why we must pack things in boxes and bags and now she can't see them.  She started asking where the strangest things were.  "Where's my pink thing?  Where's the birthday train?  Where's my changing tree?"  "Everything is still here, it's just packed up so we can move it to the new house to your new room."  After at least 10 minutes of explaining this to her she relaxed for about 30 seconds then Daddy was sent up to continue the reassuring process.  She'll be fine when we get there.  She really is excited about her new room.  She can't wait for us to paint it green and put her big girl bed in there and her PeaPod tent in her closet and make the room all "pretty!"

This morning I was woken by John jumping out of bed and dashing to the bathroom.  The sinus infection was much worse than he had thought and his ear drum ruptured.  Needless to say he took the day off work and they worked him in to a packed schedule at the doctor's office to check him over.  I got the kids all ready and was distractedly trying to get out of the driveway this morning.  John hadn't had a chance to pull some extra stuff out of the back of the van, so my line of sight was a little blocked as well.  I backed the van into the Buick.  I scuffed his paint on his rocker panels, but left a nice size dent on my rear bumper.  Fantastic.

So that's pretty much how this week has gone.

The one funny thing I remember was when the kids were playing yesterday.  They were wrestling around on the floor and Thomas got Amelia pinned down and started tickling her.  It was so hilarious!  I've never seen him try that before but she laughed so hard which made him laugh harder.  I wish I could have captured a picture of it.
